Josiah is an active member of Baker Newby’s Litigation Team, working to resolve clients’ commercial and personal conflicts both inside and outside of the courtroom. He articled with a national law firm in Calgary, Alberta and was called to the Bar of Alberta in 2024. He joined Baker Newby after being called to the Bar of British Columbia in March 2026.
Josiah was born in Dallas, Texas and is a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. He moved from the United States to Abbotsford for his last two years of high school and attended University at Trinity Western University where he played for the Spartans’ varsity basketball team.
While in law school at the University of Calgary, Josiah volunteered his time with Student Legal Assistance, the Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice and participated in the Kawaskimhon Aboriginal Law Moot in 2023.
Josiah’s background in athletics taught him the value of collaboration between teammates as well as the value of competition and how to be calm during conflict. He brings all those skills to bear for his clients, whether he is negotiating a settlement on their behalf or advocating their case in court.
When he is not working, Josiah enjoys spending time with his family, and he continues to play basketball. He also enjoys the occasional League of Legends game with his brothers and friends when they invite him to play (which is not often because he is not very good).
