Leah is a member of Baker Newby’s team of solicitors, and has a general solicitor’s practice with a focus on the buying and selling of businesses, residential and commercial real estate and a wide variety of lending matters including acting for financial institutions and private lenders. Leah’s practical nature allows her to support her clients towards accomplishing their business goals which is ultimately what allows her clients and their businesses to succeed.
Leah was born in Langley, but raised in Cloverdale which is where we think her love of 90s country music probably stems from. After high school graduation, Leah went on to attend Simon Fraser University where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in 2012. Following completion of her undergraduate degree, Leah moved downtown and worked for lululemon athletica’s corporate headquarters prior to deciding to pursue a career in law. Her keen interest in travel lead her to England, where she obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree (LLB) from the University of Leicester Faculty of Law and also managed to travel to thirteen different European countries. After traveling abroad, Leah came to the conclusion that British Columbia really is the best place on earth, and returned home to the Fraser Valley where she completed her articling year with a small litigation firm in Langley.
Leah was called to the bar in 2017, and her desire to work for a well-established law firm that could offer her exposure to a wide range of practice areas drew her to Baker Newby LLP and Chilliwack, which she now calls home. Leah is a Director of the Board of the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, and also regularly lectures nursing students at the University of the Fraser Valley on estate planning and advance planning for healthcare matters.
When she’s not working, Leah spends her time visiting the local dog-friendly wineries and breweries with her beloved English Bulldog, horseback riding and weather permitting, snowboarding in the winter months. During the summer months however, Leah won’t be found anywhere other than Shuswap spending time on the lake with her family.
