Komal is part of Baker Newby’s litigation team practicing in the areas of family law, civil litigation, and insurance defence.
Komal was born and raised in Surrey. After graduating high school, Komal attended Simon Fraser University where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in 2014. While attending Simon Fraser University, Komal continued to help with her family’s business and volunteered with the Elizabeth Fry Society as a court runner for the Downtown Community Court.
After completing her undergraduate degree, Komal attended the Faculty of Law at the Thompson Rivers University, where she obtained her Juris Doctor. During her time at Thompson Rivers University, Komal was the vice–president and later president of the South Asian Law Students’ Association. Komal attended and represented Thompson Rivers University at the North American South Asian Law Students’ Association conference in New York. In addition, she was an active member of the Women in Law club and the Oral Advocacy club. Komal received the Dean’s course prize in Advanced Legal Research.
Komal first joined Baker Newby as a summer student in 2018 and returned for her articles in 2019. Komal was called to the bar in May 2020.
In her spare time, Komal enjoys binge watching Netflix documentary series, exploring the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
Komal is fluent in Punjabi.
