Amelia is a solicitor at Baker Newby, practicing in the areas of corporate/commercial, real estate, and estate planning. Prior to joining Baker Newby, Amelia summered, articled, and worked as a corporate lawyer at a national firm in Vancouver practicing corporate/commercial, mergers and acquisitions, and securities law.
Born in Singapore and raised in Toronto, Singapore, and Edmonton, Amelia offers a diverse and adaptable perspective. She graduated with distinction from Western University with an Honours Specialization in Media, Information and Technoculture, and earned her law degree from Thompson Rivers University.
During law school, Amelia held executive roles with the First Generation Network and Beyond the A, volunteered with Pro Bono Students Canada, and worked as a Research Assistant in contract law. She was named to the Dean’s List all three years (recognizing the top 10% of law students based on GPA) and received the Dean’s Course Prize for the Davies Corporate/Securities Law Moot. Amelia also received various scholarships and awards recognizing her academic achievement, leadership, community involvement, and professionalism.
Amelia advises clients with a focus on clarity, efficiency, and practical results – whether it be supporting businesses as they grow and evolve, or helping individuals navigate significant personal decisions. She is recognized for her sharp attention to detail, strong work ethic, proactive mindset, and ability to identify and resolve issues early on. She looks forward to building strong relationships in the Fraser Valley and contributing to the community through her work.
Outside of the office, Amelia enjoys staying active, singing and playing musical instruments, discovering new foods (especially sweet treats), and spending time with her fiancé, family, and friends.
