Baker Newby LLP currently has openings for Legal Administrative Assistants in our Chilliwack office assisting our growing Family Law Department.
If you only have less than one year of family law experience, or 20+ years, we would love to hear from you! We know our salaries are very competitive with other Firms in the Fraser Valley, and we offer a 2% matching Group RRSP Program after one year of employment!
Consider a Firm with a long-established and growing Family Law department. As a Firm we are not “pivoting” to family law – family law has been a core pillar practice area at Baker Newby for many many years. Join a team with Cristen Gleeson, Managing Partner, a very well-known family law lawyer throughout the Fraser Valley, with 20 years of family law experience. Join a team with W. Laurence Scott, K.C. a very well-respected family law lawyer and Mediator in the Fraser Valley with 30+ years of family law experience. They, along with four other lawyers comprise our growing department with 9+ staff. Not only do we want you to bring your knowledge and experience to OUR Firm, but let us help YOU grow as well within a large, experienced and established department.
Duties will include assisting in the day-to-day management of files, including but not limited to:
• Maintaining file organization and assisting with organizing document binders and files;
• Prepare general correspondence to clients, opposing counsel, and other related parties;
• Dealing directly with clients, counsel, etc. via telephone and email;
• Scheduling client appointments, trials, judicial case conferences, mediations, etc;
• Closing files, filing and general administrative tasks as needed.
A dedicated work ethic and strong attention to detail is paramount for the successful candidate. Candidates must have their Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate, and possess very strong computer skills, as we work in an ever-increasing paperless practice.
Family Law is a fast paced and dynamic area of law that can provide a very rewarding legal career. Applicants should be flexible and willing to be able to respond to sensitive and urgent matters as they arise.
While we will very much strongly consider all recent graduates of Legal Administrative Assistant programs, those candidates with any experience or exposure to a Family Law practice will be preferred for an interview. Experience with Amicus and/or ESILaw would also be considered an asset.
While we appreciate all interest, only those being considered for an interview will be contacted.
