Jason Filek was born and raised in Kamloops, B.C. He attended the University College of the Cariboo for two years before transferring to the University of British Columbia. In 2001, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia, with a major in Philosophy. He went on to obtain his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004. Jason articled at Baker Newby LLP in between his second and third year of law school, and after graduating from law school. He remained on as an associate after he was called to the bar in April of 2005.

Jason practices in all areas of estate litigation, including wills variation actions, joint tenancy disputes, challenges to the validity of wills, power of attorney disputes, committeeships and all other estate related disputes.  Please see our Estate Litigation page by clicking on Areas of Practice, above.

Jason also practices insurance law, representing both insurance companies and insured persons.

Jason is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Chilliwack.  He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Home Builder's Association of the Fraser Valley, as well as a former member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Home Builder's Association of the Upper Fraser Valley. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the United Way of the Fraser Valley as well as the Chilliwack Youth Basketball Association. Jason is a past President and Secretary of the Chilliwack Bar Association.

In his leisure time, Jason enjoys golf, hockey and playing guitar.
