David M. Renwick, Q.C.
David Renwick was born in Alberta and moved to Chilliwack, B.C. where he completed his high schooling. He attended and graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Law Degree in 1977. He articled to the then senior partner at Davies, Baker & Company. After his articles, he became an associate and shortly thereafter a partner at Baker Newby LLP. He is one of the managing partners and works out of our Chilliwack office. Mr. Renwick was appointed Queen's Counsel in February of 2007. The Queen's Counsel designation is an honor conferred on members of the legal profession to recognize exceptional merit and contribution.
Mr. Renwick has been active in Bar activities. He has served as President of the Chilliwack and District Bar Association, President of the Fraser Valley Bar Association, and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the British Columbia Association of Trial Lawyers, Lawasia and the International Bar Associations. Mr. Renwick was re-elected as a Bencher of the Law Society of British Columbia and is currently a member of the Finance Committe of Law Society and on the chair of the Special Fund Committee. As well, he has been a guest speaker at a number of seminars relating to construction issues.
Mr. Renwick's area of practice is limited to civil and criminal litigation, which involves criminal defense work, insurance and personal injury cases and construction law disputes. He primarily appears as counsel in the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Mr. Renwick has been active in community affairs, having served as the Director of the Chilliwack Arts Council, the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce, and the Chilliwack YMCA/YWCA.
Mr. Renwick's leisure activities include spending quality time with his four children, traveling, skiing, golfing, cycling and cooking.
