Community
At Baker Newby LLP we take great pride in supporting our community. Not only do we support our community on a corporate level, but we also encourage our lawyers and staff to get involved personally in nearly all aspects of community affairs, including holding positions with numerous local and charitable organizations.
In addition to supporting the involvement of our personnel in various organizations, we are also proud to financially support numerous charities and other local organizations. From providing prizes for local golf tournaments, to being the corporate sponsor for charitable organizations and events, we are pleased to support the community in which we live. We strongly believe that being a good corporate citizen means giving back to the community in which we live and work, and we are proud that on both a corporate and individual basis we do this on a daily basis.
Specific events and organizations which we are currently proud to assist and sponsor include:
December 2009, Baker Newby LLP sponsored the Chilliwack Academy of
Music’s Dickens Dinner. The proceeds will go
towards purchasing new equipment and pianos for the music studios in
the new Chilliwack Cultural Centre opening in 2010.
November 2009, Baker Newby LLP sponsored the Chilliwack Hospice Society’s 6th annual November Night Gala, ‘Dancing with the Tsars.’ The Gala was a night of glamour and entertainment, which raised over $90,000 to aid in supporting the Chilliwack Hospice Society’s programs and services
October 2009, Baker Newby LLP is proud to be a sponsor of the Abbotsford Community Foundation's A Neighbourhood Ball. The event is to raise money to support housing solutions in Abbotsford through the Housing Endowment Fund.
September 2009, Baker Newby LLP sponsored the 8th Annual Chilliwack Agriculture Tour. Put on by the Chilliwack Agricultural Commission, the tour showcases a number of agricultural operations in Chilliwack.
April 2009, Baker Newby LLP participated in the BC Children's Hospital Foundation Jeans Day. Staff bought buttons and made personal donations to support BC Children's Hospital.
March 2009, Baker Newby LLP participated in the Upper Fraser Valley Big Brothers and Big Sisters annual Bowl for Kids' Sake Bowl-a-thon. This year's theme was a Hawaiian Beach Party including everything from grass skirts to coconuts. Collectively the Baker Newby staff raised over $1,400 for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
