Jacob
Parkinson joined Baker Newby LLP as an associate in the summer of
2007 upon his call to the Bar. Mr. Parkinson was with the firm for
both his summer articles and his articling year.
Mr.
Parkinson attended Simon Fraser University for his undergraduate
degree in Criminology. He graduated with first class honours in
2002. Mr. Parkinson then attended the University of Victoria where
he won the Business Associations prize and the Macleans Scholarship
in Legal History and Criminal Law. He graduated with his Bachelor
of Laws in 2006.
Mr.
Parkinson has worked raising money for scholarships and bursaries
as a supervisor for the Alumni Appeal at S.F.U. He also worked for
the Information and Referral Services section of the B.C. Crime
Prevention Association, and thereafter served on the Board of Directors.
During law school, he had temporary articles with the Department
of Justice, in the Citizenship, Immigration and Public Safety section.
Mr.
Parkinson currently practices in the areas of civil and criminal
litigation, including conducting Federal prosecutions on behalf
of the Public Prosecution Service of Canada. He has appeared in
both Provincial and Supreme Court and welcomes litigation inquiries.
Mr. Parkinson feels
that the city of Chilliwack and the Fraser Valley offer an excellent
quality of life, and he enjoys hiking and golf in his spare time.
