Jason
Filek was born and raised in Kamloops, B.C. He attended the University
College of the Cariboo for two years before transferring to the
University of British Columbia. In 2001, he obtained a Bachelor
of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia, with a major
in Philosophy. He went on to obtain his Bachelor of Laws degree
from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004. Jason articled at Baker
Newby
LLP
in between his second and third year of law school, and after graduating
from law school. He remained on as an associate after he was called
to the bar in April of 2005.
Jason’s practice includes general civil litigation in both
the Provincial and Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Jason is currently on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Home
Builder's Association of the Upper Fraser Valley and President of
the Chilliwack Bar Association. He is also a former member
of the Board of Directors of the United Way of the Fraser Valley
as well as the Chilliwack Youth Basketball Associations and former
Secretary of the Chilliwack Bar Association.
In his leisure time, Jason enjoys golf, hockey and playing guitar.
