Corey
Dreveny was born in Whitecourt, Alberta, in 1971 and grew up in
Calgary. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Economics
from the University of Western Ontario in 1993, and received his
Bachelor of Laws from Queen’s University in 1996. While attending
Queen’s, Mr. Dreveny spent a term at the University of Groningen,
Netherlands, studying European law as part of an academic exchange.
He articled in Vancouver and was called to the Bar in 1997, joining
Baker Newby LLP
in November of that year.
Mr. Dreveny’s practice encompasses most aspects of corporate,
commercial and business law: commercial trade (including local and
cross-border sale, supplier and distributorship, licensing and agency),
trade secrets (including franchises, trade-mark licensing and confidentiality
agreements), business acquisitions (both asset and share purchases),
incorporations (including reorganizations and shareholders agreements),
secured transactions (including mortgages and personal property
security), real estate purchases and leases, Personal Information
Protection Act (privacy) compliance, and other commercial transactions
and arrangements.
Mr. Dreveny is active in his church and community. He is vice-president
of the Chilliwack Academy of Music Board of Trustees and a past
president of Big Brothers and Big Sisters Upper Fraser Valley.
He, his wife Nancy, and their four children live in Chilliwack and
his interests include camping, travel, reading (especially philosophy),
soccer, and water skiing.
