Simon Thomson was born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1965. He moved to Abbotsford, British Columbia in 1977. Since graduating from W. J. Mouat Senior Secondary School in 1983, he has obtained a Diploma in Criminal Justice from the University College of the Fraser Valley in 1988, a Bachelor of Arts (Criminology) from Simon Fraser University in 1990, and his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of British Columbia in 1993.
Mr. Thomson has been active in local Bar activities. Since his Call, Mr. Thomson has been involved in the Fraser Valley and Abbotsford Bar Associations and served as Secretary to the Chilliwack & District Bar Association in 1999, and President of the Chilliwack & District Bar Association in 2000 He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and British Columbia Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Thomson and his family reside in Abbotsford where he is an active
member of the community. Currently Mr. Thomson is a member of the
Abbotsord-Sumas Rotary Club and has just been elected to the executive
of that club for the 2004-2005 year. He is also a member of the Board
of Directors of the Upper Fraser Valley Developmental Pre-School,
and an active Scout Leader with Scouts Canada.
Mr. Thomson's area of practice includes both civil and criminal litigation,
including acting as Ad hoc Prosecutor for the Public Prosecution Service
of Canada as well as handling criminal defence work, insurance, personal
injury cases, and estate litigation. He regularly appears as counsel
in the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
Mr. Thomson has long-term roots in the Fraser Valley and welcomes general litigation inquiries. He looks forward to assisting members of the Fraser Valley communities in the above areas of law.
