John
Lee was born in Montreal, graduating from the George Williams University
with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree and from Dalhousie University with
a Law Degree. Following graduation, he worked with Lawson, Lundell
in Vancouver and moved to Chilliwack, joining our predecessor firm
of Hinds, Davies & Baker in 1971 and has practised with Baker
Newby LLP ever since.
Mr.
Lee has been active in Bar activities including Secretary of the
Fraser Valley Bar Association, President of the Fraser Valley Bar
Association, active member of the Canadian Bar Association and a
member of the American and British Columbia Associations of Trial
Lawyers.
Mr.
Lee has also been very active in community affairs including the
Chilliwack Fraser Rotary Club, President and Director of the Chilliwack
YM/YWCA, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Chilliwack
Historical Society.
Mr.
Lee's area of practice has a foundation in all areas of litigation,
including criminal prosecutions and defence, matrimonial law, insurance
law, and other general civil litigation. At present his civil litigation
practice is strongly focused and balanced between insurance and
matrimonial law. His practice requires regular appearances in the
Supreme Court throughout the Province of British Columbia and in
the British Columbia Court of Appeal.
Mr.
Lee's leisure activities include skiing, hiking, fishing and spending
time on Hornby Island as well as overseeing a family of five grown
children and two grandchildren with his wife Rosemary.
